Hey Midcurrent,
By now, you are likely aware that Midcurrent is growing! Last week I announced that, come January 2026, we are adding a third service on Sunday morning. You might also be glad to know that we’re hosting five Christmas services this year.
December 23— 2:00, 4:00, & 6:00
December 24— 2:00 & 4:00
It’s all really exciting stuff. And I also want to mention something about our growth at the current moment. We are continually blown away by the amount of brand new people we see walk through our front door every week. And while it’s not always possible to know how each and every person found their way to Midcurrent, we do know that in today’s world, it’s becoming more common for people to switch from one church to another church for a variety of reasons. To be honest, we’ve seen people come and go from Midcurrent, and I’m sure we have people at Midcurrent today that have come from other area churches as well. Maybe that’s you. Maybe you moved and are new to the area…or maybe your kids have become more invested into various programs here…maybe there is a small group of friends who you want to be in community with…or maybe there was some kind of tension of conflict in your former church that has lead you to Midcurrent. Whatever the reason, we want you to know that we’re SO glad you are here. At the same time, I also want to offer a helpful “Church PSA” for anyone who may find themselves in a season of transition from one church to another.
If that is you, here’s what I would encourage of you.
Leave well. To the degree that it is possible and/or appropriate, reach out to your former church leaders and thank them for the work they do and for all of the ways they served you and lead you. Express your appreciation for the time you spent together, and let them know of the transition you are anticipating.
Speak graciously. We take no joy in hearing anyone speak ill of any former church of which they were a part. Certainly, we are saddened to learn of any discouragement you may have experienced, but we also want to make sure you know that (as often as possible) we here at Midcurrent have a “Big C” Church mentality. What that means is that we don’t look at any other area churches as competition. Ultimately, they are our colleagues and partners in the work God has called us to. Our goal is to champion them as best as we can. We would love for you to do the same.
Pursue Jesus. As much as possible, do your best to run toward something rather than running away from something. We are so happy anytime we learn of the encouragement that people find at Midcurrent. At the same time, your experience here for the long haul will be best if it is a relationship with Jesus that you are pursuing here most of all. Don’t get me wrong, our doors are always open, but our ultimate hope is that the people who walk through them are drawn to the unique way that God is at work here and to the calling He has placed on Midcurrent Church. To put it simply, we want you to be for what God is doing at Midcurrent rather than against something that was done at any other church from which you came.
I don’t know the story behind every person’s journey to Midcurrent. So this may or may not apply to you. But I can’t help but believe that this will set all of us up well for many years of fruitful ministry still to come.
