After both MC Youth and in-person worship services were canceled last week, and the IF:Table was relocated, I’m sure you are wondering what in the world is going on over here. So let me fill you in.

I’ll start by telling you what is NOT the problem. All of our restrooms, and all the pipes and plumbing completed by our contractors during our buildout three years ago, are running free and clear–just as they should be!! There are no issues there.

Here is the issue. Six years ago, long before we ever even dreamed of moving into this space, the lower level of this building got retrofitted to eventually be used as leasable space for new tenants. At that time, there was an old cast iron sewer main which was supposed to be discontinued from service in favor of a new PVC sewer main for the building. I am going to struggle to relay all the exact details, and so in order to make a long story short, I’ll just say this. The new PVC sewer main was put into place, but the old cast iron sewer main was not as “discontinued from service” as it was supposed to be, and now there is some kind of problem causing it to back up into our facility through old pipes in the floors and walls. All of this is the responsibility of our landlords who have been onsite all week with subcontractors replacing carpet squares and sheet rock, as well as cleaning and sanitizing the entire facility. Unfortunately, as of right now, they cannot find the root cause of the issue, therefore proposing a solution has also been difficult.

So, we are weighing options as they are presented to us, and we are determining how viable each event, ministry, and program is on a day-to-day basis taking into consideration the condition of our facility, the progress of the repairs, and the schedule of the work being done.

There is a chance that more events and programs will be impacted in the coming week, and so we will use this email data base, as well as our social media channels, to keep you up to date. And if there is news to share, we’ll share it! So stay tuned.

And whenever you are onsite next, it is important that you know that the entire facility has been thoroughly and adequately cleaned and sanitized. I can assure you of that!

In the meantime, please by praying for a quick resolution to these issues. And most of all, pray that the movement of God that we are experiencing at Midcurrent would not be hindered in anyway.
